This page is the county's own process for the November 3, 2026 election, laid out plainly: how to register (including if you think you missed the deadline), when your ballot shows up, and how to make sure it counts. It does not matter who you plan to vote for.

Every active registered voter in Orange County is mailed a ballot starting October 5, 2026. Return postage is prepaid, no stamp needed.
Ordinary registration deadline
The last day to register to vote the ordinary way for this election.
Missed October 19? You have not lost your chance.
Same-day registration runs all the way through Election Day.
California's Conditional Voter Registration, also called same-day registration, lets you register and vote from October 20, 2026 through Election Day, November 3, 2026. Do it in person at the Orange County Registrar of Voters office (1300 S. Grand Avenue, Building C, Santa Ana) or at any OC Vote Center. Your ballot will be a provisional ballot, counted once your registration is verified.

Vote Centers are open. A mailed ballot must be signed, dated, and postmarked today at the latest.
How to return a ballot
- Mail it. Sign and date the envelope, and get it postmarked on or before November 3, 2026. Return postage is prepaid, no stamp needed.
- Drop it off. Any Orange County ballot drop box or Vote Center takes a completed ballot, no stamp or mail needed. November 2026 locations were not yet published as of this page's last review; use the live locator below rather than any address printed elsewhere.
- Vote in person. Every Vote Center opens by October 31, 2026, and the first ones open October 24. Registering in person there also works if you have not registered yet.
- Track it. Once it is in, follow it at ocvote.gov/track (opens in a new tab), or sign up for alerts at WheresMyBallot.sos.ca.gov (opens in a new tab).

- I missed the October 19 registration deadline. Can I still vote?
- Yes. California's Conditional Voter Registration lets you register and vote in person from October 20, 2026 through Election Day, November 3, 2026, at the OC Registrar of Voters office in Santa Ana or at any OC Vote Center. You will cast a provisional ballot, counted once your registration is verified.
- How do I return my ballot?
- Mail it back. It is signed, dated and postmarked on or before November 3, 2026, and return postage is prepaid. You can also drop it at a Vote Center or ballot drop box, or vote in person at any Vote Center starting October 24, 2026.

- As of this page's last review, Orange County had not yet published November 2026 locations. Check the Registrar of Voters' live locator closer to the election rather than trusting an address printed anywhere else, including on this site.
