Where I stand05

A new generation of leadership

This is not a personal attack on anyone. It is arithmetic.

The same small group has held these seats for a very long time. When that happens, decisions stop being argued and start being assumed. Nobody has to be a villain for a council to drift out of touch; it happens by default when the same people talk to each other for long enough.

Rancho Santa Margarita only moved to district elections in 2023. District 2 covers the central band of the city, and only District 2 voters can vote in this race. That is a real change and it is worth using.

What I want to change most is not any single vote. It is whether a resident who emails the city gets an actual answer, in plain language, from someone who read the question.

What I will do

  • Answer residents directly, in plain language, and say so when the answer is no.
  • Explain the reasoning behind votes publicly, not just the outcome.
  • Bring the tough question to the meeting rather than settling it beforehand.
